First off, I want you to know a few things I believe:
1. Your hair is gorgeous.
2. You don't need to feel guilty for feeling your best when your curls are curly.
3. You don't need to feel guilty for feeling your best when your curls are straight.
This is about me helping you express your best self and have healthy, happy hair!
From day one of Cosmetology school, I decided to not be afraid of anything. "Fake it 'til you make it!," was my motto. I didn't turn anything down, even if I'd never done it before. I can't tell you how many times I said, "Sure, I can do that!," and then went and learned exactly how to do that. I knew my principles and was ready to make some discoveries via experience. I was a few years older than the average Cosmo student, had some previous business experience, and a history of being at the top of my classes. Because of this, and the way I presented myself, my instructors had confidence in me, which allowed me to stretch the rules and make more decisions on my own. I wasn't afraid of any hair texture and I had an extreme desire to make sure everyone felt welcome in my chair. That's how I became a Curly Hair Specialist.
It was about 8 years into my career when I took the Deva Curl classes at MaduSalon in San Francisco. For many years, Deva was the only company I could find for curly hair education. Now, more than 10 years later, there are many professional companies producing targeted products and classes. I take every opportunity for education I can. There is always something new to learn. I certainly do not come close to knowing it all, but I am committed to continuing to grow as a Stylist and be your support team for your hair. My curl cutting and coloring techniques are a mixture of all of the education I've received on the topic from professionals and the 18 year education received from each head that has sat in my chair. I love consulting with a new client about their lifestyle, their hair goals, their styling preferences/commitment, and then customizing their cut and color just for them.
You'll find a lot more information about your first appointment on my New Client page and on my Menu of Services. One thing I do want to touch on here is this, when I say I want to be your partner in having the hair you've always wanted, I mean it to its fullest extent. At least half of that equation is a personalized hair cut and color. The other portion is in maintenance and at home care. In my Shop, you will find products I've spent years curating. Every product on the shelf is something I use and have determined the best value for what it is intended to do. If you make a purchase from me, and it doesn't work for you, I will replace the product. I will always find you the right product. You can let go of that bathroom cabinet full of failed hair dreams now. You'll find my full policy on that in the New Client information.
I can't wait to start our adventure together!
